PARIJARO WATERFALL

Join our expedition to the Parijaro waterfall in Otishi National Park and join the ranks of the few international visitors who have reached this remote destination.

Experience the beauty and adventure of the Peruvian Amazon with our Parijaro expedition. This trip takes you on a journey deep into the heart of the Otishi National Park, where you will hike to the stunning Parijaro Waterfall which towers over the surrounding rainforest at 250 meters. This trip is not for the faint of heart, as it requires an adequate level of fitness and experience in hiking.

This little-known waterfall sits on the fringe of Otishi National Park, a stunning area of natural beauty and rich biodiversity covering 305,973.05 hectares. As part of the Vilcabamba-Amboró Binational Corridor, Otishi is connected to other important biological areas and provides a wide range of ecosystems and habitats for a diverse array of species.

On this expedition, we travel by 4WD, canoe, and foot, visiting Ashaninka communities along the way. We take you well and truly off the beaten path, to an area only a handful of foreign nationals have visited.

ARRIVAL

Meeting Point: Satipo, Peru.

Day 1
Meet your fellow adventurers, expedition crew and local community representatives at our welcome briefing. We leave Satipo by 4WD towards the start point of our expedition. Depending on dates, we stay with either the CCNN Barropampa or CCNN Cutivireni communities. On arrival, we are hosted by local community organizations to share dinner, and stories and learn about Ashaninka culture and traditions.

THE TREK

Days 2 – 4
The next three days are dedicated to hiking to the Parijaro Waterfall. The hike is a Moderate-Advanced level, requiring multiple river crossings and 6 hours of trekking each day. We will spend each night at one of the CCNN communities along the route, enjoying traditional meals and campfires.

DEPARTURE

Day 5
On day 5, we return to Satipo by canoe along the river Ene. Relax on the river as we pass by the Canon Diablo and keep an eye out for wildlife along the banks of the river. Celebrate your epic achievement by treating yourself to a rest in Satipo or continuing on your adventures in Peru. Our team will help you to organize your onward travel.
